Harvin Sprains Ankle at Practice

The Gators are down in Orlando at the Wide World of Sports practicing for their Bowl Game against Michigan. Yesterday, Percy Harvin sprained his ankle at practice. “It was during two-minute drill,” Florida coach Urban Meyer said. “He stepped on someone’s foot, sprained it. We re-taped it, and he went back out there.”

Meyer was saying Percy was gimping around bit but to me it sounds like he just rolled it or something. The ankle injury shouldn’t be too serious or limit him when it comes to January 1. The Gators wouldn’t have brought him back to practice otherwise.

Is Percy’s Bio Wrong?

I received an email from either a close friend of Percy Harvin or perhaps a relative. To protect the person, I’m not going to give out their name. But the email that was sent to me said that information in the Percy Harvin Biography I have here is misleading, and perhaps even false. They specifically target the incidents in Percy’s junior and senior years of high school.

I’ll let you read the email, and please comment if you have any further information.

Your bio section is very misleading. Percy was suspended for one game during his junior year for unsportsmanlike conduct. In all actuality if was excessive celebration. During a game his senior year he was late tackled and then the defender spit in his face. Percy reacted and shrugged off a person how had him by the shoulders. He did not know that it was a ref. The coach of the opposing team came out in support of Percy but he was suspended anyway. At another game signs were hung that said, “Percy Who?” At the State playoff game adults lined the pathway to the field and chanted “Over rated” as he walked by. He was not expelled from the basketball team during his senior year. His mother withdrew him the team after it became clear that he was being targeted and there was a possibility of serious injury. He was repeated attacked by opposing players. I witnessed these incidents. The picture you painted of Percy is a bit distorted.

Meyer Tells Harvin He’s Next

Percy’s teammate Tim Tebow, just recently won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday. Well, that night, Coach Urban Meyer call Percy and said ‘Next year’s your year.’  Harvin responded with a chuckle.

“I’m just going to keep working hard, and if it comes it comes. I just want to have a great career,” Harvin said.

The way things are panning out, Harvin should be a front runner at the beginning of the 2008 season. With Caldwell and Fayson gone, he’ll be the go to guy in the air. I can’t wait to see Percy back on the field. UF has never had a player as gifted as Harvin. He can do amazing things when give them ball in open space.

Just like everyone was wearing Tebow 4 He15man shirts this year, someone needs to start producing the Harvin 4 He1sman ones.

Harvin Garners SEC Honors

The AP announced it’s ALL-SEC team yesterday. Percy Harvin was named to the first team as an all-purpose player and made the second team as a wide receiver. This is a big honor for Percy and he should be proud to be one of only three Gators to make the first team selections (Tebow and Spikes were the other two).

Harvin is probably the best all-purpose player in the SEC outside of McFadden (and personally Harvin has much better hands then Darren… it’s just McFadden freakin’ throws for touchdowns).

Next year will be all the Percy all the time year. He should make first team for all-purpose and first team for wide receiver. He’ll be the Gators go-to guy. Barring injury, his receiving numbers will be sick!

Congrats to Percy!

Gators to Play Michigan

The Florida Gators will play the Michigan Wolverines in the Capital One Bowl on January 1. I can’t remember the last time the Gators played the Wolverines, but I know this will be the first time Harvin has had a shot at the Big Blue.

Michigan will be a formidable opponent. They come into the game ranked 24th in total defense. That bodes well for Percy Harvin and the high powered Gator offense. Harvin and his insane speed will shred through their linebackers like a knife through warm butter.

The Gators will utilize Harvin to the max. He can create mismatches that the Wolverines have no answers for. I’ll have more info on this game as it gets closer, but for now if you want to chat with other Gator fans, head over to Gator Envy.
