The folks over at Associated Content (might be some AP type of site) wrote a great Percy Harvin Draft Preview. As free agency is starting to die down, we can get a better look at what teams will be looking for a WR in the first round. Percy could potentially be taken as high as No. 7 overall with the Oakland Raiders. Many experts pegged Michael Crabtree as the No. 1 WR in the draft, but his stock has been dropping like a rock the past two weeks. Don’t be surprised if Percy is the first WR taken.
I’m going to post a quick excerpt from the preview, but you really should go check out the whole thing here.
Percy went to the University of Florida where he played both receiver and running back. He was such a dynamic threat that he caused opposing teams to prepare strategies specifically for stopping him – let alone Florida’s other weapons (i.e. Tim Tebow). He was part of two national championship teams, being a major factor in the second one. Despite battling injuries throughout his career, including what was later determined to be a hairline fracture, he was a strong player never afraid to take the hit. In the 2008-09 National Championship game, playing with that hairline fracture, he carried the ball 9 times for 122 yards rushing along with a touchdown. He also had 5 catches for 49 yards leading the Gators to their second National Championship.

I hope he is not the first WR picked just so he don’t join a terrible team. If he goes in the mid to late first round he could end up in Indy with Peyton Manning. Now that’s a great stop. So late first round could be great!
