In the most hyped NFL regular season game in years, the Minnesota Vikings handed the Green Bay Packers a 30-23 loss on Monday Night Football. Percy Harvin probably didn’t make fantasy owners too happy. He was limited to only 2 catches for 39 yards no couldn’t find the endzone. This marks the first time in like 20 games (dating back to UF) that Percy didn’t score a touchdown.

The Green Bay Packers did a great job containing everything underneath. They stopped the run and didn’t give up any big plays. In fact, the longest catch of the night was from Percy Harvin on a 43 yard gain.

If you missed the game, I’ve posted the highlights for your enjoyment.

Percy Keeps The Streak Alive

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin has now scored a touchdown in 18 consecutive games dating back to his days with the Florida Gators. Thanks to a late touchdown drive from Brett Favre, the Vikings were able to beat the San Francisco 49ers and improve to 3-0 on the season. But the Percy highlight came in the 3rd quarter when he took a kickoff and returned it 101 yards for a touchdown.

Percy also added 1 carry for -8 yards (it was a busted play) and caught 4 balls for 51 yards. He keeps proving week after week why he was chosen in the first round. At this pace, Harvin will win the Rookie of the Year.

For those of who you missed it, check the video out. You won’t find a faster player in the league.

Percy Harvin is a stud

The Minnesota Vikings have the perfect player in Percy Harvin. In his second game in a Vikings uniform, Percy found the end zone once again… giving him two touchdowns on the season. He lined up in the slot and Favre hit him on a quick 3 yard touchdown pass in the 4th quarter. It was a play very similar to what he was accustom to running at Florida.

On the day Percy had 5 receptions for 41 yards and 2 carries for 14 yards. I thought he might have more total yards since they were playing the Lions… but Percy fans have to be happy with his performance. Harvin was also involved with special teams, running back 3 kickoff returns for a 26 yard average.

It’s safe to say he’s been one of the most productive rookies through the first two games. The Vikings know exactly how to use him. Getting Percy open in space is the key to his success

Percy Harvin vs. the Detroit Lions

After seeing what Percy Harvin could do last week against the Cleveland Browns, Vikings fans have to be thrilled to see what he’ll do against the Detroit Lions. The Lions are the absolute worst team to ever exist. Teams can run and throw all over them. This is a dream matchup for Percy Harvin… if you have him in your fantasy league then he better be in the starting lineup on Sunday.

The only thing that could limit Percy’s touches is if the Vikings get up like 28-0 at halftime and they never throw the ball again. But this just means they’ll use Percy in the running game on reverses or try some wildcat options. Percy will get his 10-15 touches no matter what the situation. I also really like Percy’s chances of finding the endzone this week. We saw what Drew Brees did to the Lions last week – 6 passing touchdowns. Don’t be surprised if Harvin scores twice this weekend.

This really could be Percy’s breakout game. A big performance could catapolt him into the ROY race.

The Minnesota Vikings stomped the Cleveland Browns in the NFL opening week 34-20 in Cleveland. Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson put on a show, but one of the biggest moments of the day came from the Vikings No. 1 draft pick Percy Harvin. Percy found the endzone on a quick 6-yard pass from Favre. Percy caught the ball on the 2-3 yard line then stretched out to reach the ball across the goal line. It was a great play from the rookie.

Percy totaled 3 receptions for 36 yards (1 touchdown) and 2 rushes for 22 yards. Vikings fans should be very happy with his Week 1 production. The future looks bright for Percy Harvin. Below is a video of the touchdown. Fast forward to the 3:14 mark.

The Minnesota Vikings played their third preseason game last night against the Houston Texans. The Vikings won (not that it matters) and Percy Harvin saw significant playing time. He ooked OK, but still showed signs of being a rookie. PErcy had 3 receptions for 31 yards and 2 carries for 6 yards. I’ve attached a highlight reel from the game below for those of you that missed it.

0:35 into the video the Vikings run the Wildcat featuring Percy Harvin. Harvin takes a direct snap from the center and then does a little hand off / shuffle pass to Peterson.

1:33 into the video you can see Favre lay the perfect 30 yard pass out there for Percy Harvin in the corner of the endzone and it just goes through Percy’s fingers. A rookie mistake for sure. That’s a pass he has to reel in if he wants to become a top player in the NFL someday.

Percy Harvin Preseason Game 2 Recap

The Minnesota Vikings, along with rookie WR Percy Harvin, faced the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday in what was Brett Favre’s first game back. Favre didn’t contribute much, which was expected… what wasn’t expect is Percy Harvin’s near absence from the box score. Percy played with the first team, but didn’t see much action. He had only 2 catches for 9 yards and two kickoff returns.

I didn’t see the game, so I don’t know if Percy just wasn’t targeted or if maybe he dropped a few catches. If you saw the game and have some insight, please leave a comment. I would really like to see the Vikings use Percy in the running game as well.  I did read though that Percy grabbed a low catch, showing he’s got great hands.

The Vikings play next week on Monday night and Percy should play a full three quarters. This will be his chance to prove he belongs in the starting lineup on opening day.

The Florida Gators are BCS National Champions! Percy Harvin held nothing back int he Gators 24-14 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners last night. Leading up to the game, I heard reports on the radio saying Percy tweaked his ankle… well, those reports much have been smoke screens because he looked awesome.

“The brighter the lights, the bigger he plays,” Meyer said. “He’s a big-time game performer.”

Harvin finished the game with 9 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown plus 5 receptions for 49 yards. In my opinion he should have won the offensive player of the game. Without Percy playing, the Gators wouldn’t have had a chance. He ran wild on two plays busting one for 45 yards and another for 52 yards. His touchdown came on a 2 yard run in the third quarter.

“There’s no feeling like being a champion,” Harvin said. “I love it. There’s nothing like it.” Congratulations Percy and the Florida Gators. Winning two championships in 3 years is an amazing feat. The hard work put in all season and the intensive rehab paid off.

We’re just over 48 hours remaining until the Gators take the field against the Oklahoma Sooners for a chance to bring home their second BCS Title in just three years. Percy Harvin is one of th keys to success for the Florida Gators.

I read a great article on Percy over at Gator Country. Since their site requires a subscription to read the articles, I thought I’d just post an excerpt.

“I’ve been cutting and stuff for the last three days and it feels pretty good so I would say about 90 percent,” he said. “I’ve been doing a lot of team work, just getting back to catching pitches and catching the ball from Tim (Tebow). It’s feeling pretty good and I should be good for the game.”

Monday morning, Harvin had the look in his eye that you see in the race horses over at Gulfstream. He was doing his best to remain calm as he was peppered with questions but with Dolphin Stadium and a football field that looked ready to go as his backdrop, he looked like a race horse that somehow knows he’s going to run in the race of his life in a matter of a day or two.

He was born to run and with a championship on the line Thursday night, he feels like he’s ready to be an impact player in the most important game of the season for the Florida Gators.

“Anything I can do to help the team, I’m ready for it,” he said. “We’ve come a long way to get here and now it’s time for all of us to make our little contributions to bring home a victory for our university. I’m ready to do my part.”

The more I read about the Gators, the more amped I am about this game. If you need someone to talk to about Percy or the Gators, head over to Gator Envy, a free community of over 1,000 Gator fans.

Percy Looks Good in Practice

We are just a few days away from the BCS National Championship Game in Miami. The concern about Percy Harvin’s ankle has diminished some. He’s been participating in practice and running. Tebow said that receiver Percy looked good in practice and joked that even if he was not 100-percent he would still be the fastest player on the field.

For those of you into sports betting, the current line on the game is about 3 in favor of the Gators. I wonder if having Percy on the field will move the line as we get closer to action?

If having Percy on the field doesn’t, then I know one person who might move the line. Sooners cornerback Dominique Franks.

“If you look at the three best quarterbacks in the country, they came from the Big 12,” said Franks, referring to Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford, Texas’ Colt McCoy and Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell.

“The three best receivers in the country came from the Big 12. The three best tight ends came from the Big 12. So we’ve faced some great offenses, and a lot of people don’t understand that other conferences don’t have what we face.”

The three best receivers huh? I guess he’s never seen Percy Harvin play. I have feeling Meyer will remember Frank’s quote as he calls a play with Percy lined up on Franks.

This is going to be such an exciting game. I’m looking forward to this one more then I was for the OSU game. If I lived in Vegas or was a football betting man, I would take the Gators -3 in a heartbeat. Playing in Miami will give them almost a homefield advantage. For those of you playing the odds, NCAA Bowls Betting is a great time to put in some action. Other then the Superbowl, I bet the BCS Championship Game has more money wagered then any other game.

I’ll bring you more of a game preview on Wednesday.
