Percy Harvin Helps Stomp the Dawgs

Percy Harvin helped the Florida Gators beat down the Georgia Bulldogs 49-10 in Saturday’s annual FL vs. GA game in Jacksonville. While Meyer didn’t get Percy as many touches as I would have liked, it didn’t matter too much because the Gators were playing from ahead the entire game.

Once again, Percy didn’t have monster yardage stats, but the touchdowns were still there. He had 4 rushing attempts for 37 yards and a touchdown, plus he had 3 receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown.

One of the best parts of the game came in the final seconds when Coach Meyer called two timeouts at the end of the game just to stick it to Georgia. That was his response to last year’s “Gator Stomp”… making UGA stay on the field an extra couple of minutes to endure their embarassing defeat.

Here’s a highlight video from the game: it’s shows Percy Harvin’s touchdowns.

Bulldogs will get a Healthy Dose of Percy Harvin

Maybe Coach Meyer read my blog post earlier this week about Percy Harvin needing more touches. Check out what he said the other day.

“Percy is as healthy as he has been all year,” Meyer said. “He has had a great month, as far as training and working and his approach to the game. I’m really impressed with Percy, and we need him to have one of his Percy games this week.”

If the Gator coaches hold true to their claim, then they should have no problem beating the Georgia Bulldogs tomorrow in Jacksonville, FL. The Gators are still angry about what happened last year, and are ready to take the victory home.

I have a really good feeling about this game and I’m excited because I’ll be there in person to watch it. Percy Harvin has a nose for big games and I think he’ll show the world who he is and what he can do on the football field. I see a monster game from Percy Harvin tomorrow. I see 170 total yards of offense and two scores. He’ll break a 60+ yarder at some point in the game.

Don’t forget, if you can’t make it to the game, you need to head over to Gator Envy where you will find a ton of Percy Harvin and Gator fans. They have discussion forums and live chatrooms so you can talk about the game as it’s going on.

Percy Harvin Finds the Endzone in Blowout

The Florida Gators chomped on kitty cat this past weekend when the handed the Kentucky Wildcats a 63-5 loss in the Swamp. Percy Harvin didn’t get many touches, but he was able to make the most of them.

He had 2 rushes for 22 yards with a touchdown and 1 reception for 33 yards with a touchdown. “I’ll take three touches and two touchdowns every game,” said Harvin with a grin.

It’s possible that Urban Meyer was holding Percy back some in anticipation for the Georgia game coming up this weekend. Either way, it worked out well for the Gators because some other key players on the team were able to take advantage.

“Double up on me all you want and try to take Tim Tebow out of the game, too, but you gotta deal with those other guys,” said Harvin. “Those other guys are weapons.”

Percy Harvin now has 9 touchdowns on the season and will look to tie his personal season record of 10 next week.

Percy Will Crush Those Cats

Percy Harvin and the Florida  Gators will be hosting the Kentucky Wildcats tomorrow for their 2008 Homecoming Game. This will probably be Percy’s last Homecoming game as a Gator. Everyone expects him to go to the NFL after this season.

Last year againast Kentucky, Percy was held to under 100 total yards of offense and only 1 score. But last year’s Kentucky team was No. 8 in the country at the time and had a very good defense. This year is a whole new story. While the Wildcats are 5-2, they aren’t ranked and are 20 point underdogs to the Gators.

Urban is going to get Percy involved early and often. He needs to be utilized in all situations. Deep balls, screens, reverses, slants, etc. We need to see Percy get 20 touches this game. He’s also scored a touchdown in every game he’s played in this season. Keep the streak alive!

For those of you who can’t make it to the game, don’t forget you can stop by Gator Envy and chat with other Gator fans about the game.

Harvin Helps Lead Gators to Victory

In a game where we thought he might not play (or be limited), Percy Harvin helped lead the Florida Gators to victory over the previously No. 4 ranked LSU Tigers. The final score was 51-21. Who would have expected such a blowout?

Percy played a complete game gaining 125 total yards on offense and two receiving touchdowns. The first touchdown Percy caught was on a tipped ball from Tim Tebow. It should have been picked off, but Percy was positioned in just the right spot. He quickly grabbed the ball and turned it up field for a 70 yard score.

Check out the video below at about the 26 second mark for the Percy Harvin catch.

Percy Harvin Should Play vs. LSU

After sitting out a couple of practices this week, Gator superstar Percy Harvin did a full practice on Thursday and should be ready to play in the Swamp tomorrow night against LSU. The Gators need Percy on the field, and he knows this. Without him, chances of winning are slim. He’ll likely spend today working out his ankle to confirm his stability.

Last year vs. LSU, Percy was limited to under 70 yards of total offense and he didn’t find the endzone. That needs to change tomorrow. Percy needs to touch the ball 15-18 times and be given every chance to catch the ball in space. Moody won’t be back, so Percy may be asked to run the ball a couple of times too.

This is a make or break game for the Gators. If they lose this game they can kiss the National Championship goodbye. Winning it on the other hand will propel them back up the rankings to near number 7-8. Percy knows what this game means and he’ll give it all he’s got.

Percy Harvin is the answer!

Percy Harvin and the Florida Gators rolled up into Arkansas on Saturday and handed the Hogs a 38-7 loss. For the second game in a row, the Gators got off the a very slow start. Percy wasn’t involved in the offense as much as last week when he had 20+ touches. He ended the game with 6 rushes for 37 yards and 3 receptions for 37 yards plus a touchdown.

Coach Urban Meyer addresses the issue of not getting Percy the ball on Saturday. “I know a lot of teams are saying ‘Keep No. 1 Harvin inside, clamp him down.’” Meyer said. “Everybody on the field knows who No. 1 is. I know that for a fact from talking to other coaches. Are we making a conscious effort? Yes, but we’re just running the offense. We are trying to get Percy the ball. It’s just not coming out the back end, because I think there is a lot of focus on him right now.”

Also note that Percy was hobbled several times in the game. I’m not sure if it was his heel or his ankle, but you could see him very slow to get up at times and even limping. I heard on the radio that Percy was seen wearing a boot after the game.

Now the Gators are hosting LSU this week and need Percy Harvin at full strength. They need to get him the ball early and often. He can make things happen, the coaches just need to trust him.

Harvin’s Going to Play Hard

Percy Harvin and the Florida Gators are heading into enemy territory this Saturday when they play the Arkansas Razorbacks. Arkansas isn’t half the team it was the last two years. They’ve lost a ton of players to the NFL, and some experts think they’re the worst team in the SEC.Percy is definitely pissed about the fumbles he had last week against Ole Miss. He knows that they may have cost them some scores, but he also knows that the Gators aren’t out of it. “There’s no margin,” Harvin said. “We’re going to play a little harder. We know we lost, but we know we’re right where we need to be.”

I’ve been preaching for Percy to get more carries. Urban Meyer listened last week when Percy had 20+ touches. This morning though I read something interesting: UF is 2-3 all-time when Harvin accumulates more than 200 yards of offense. That’s an awful stat. When you’re best player is putting up 200+ yards of offense, the team needs to win! Might have to blame those on the defense.

I think Percy will be playing with fierce determination and heart this week. He’ll be involved in all aspects of the offense and given every opportunity to succeed. If Arkansas plays like the Arkansas we’ve seen in 2008, then Percy is capable of putting up another 200+ yards game.

If you’re missing the Gator game in person or can’t see it on TV, head over to Gator Envy and enjoy it with the fans.

That’s The Percy We Know

It’s a shame that on a day when Percy Harvin has nearly 270 yards of total offense that the #4 ranked Gators fall at home to an unranked Ole Miss team. When you play in the SEC, you’re playing against tough teams with very fast defenses, no matter what their rank is. But, other then Percy Harvin, the entire Gator offense flat out sucked. Tebow sucked, the play calling sucked… everything just sucked.

Percy Harvin was outstanding (except for the fumbles he lost). He had 10 rushes for 83 yards plsu a touchdown and he had 13 receptions for 186 yards plus a touchdown.

In the preview I called for Percy Harvin to get more touches. He had only 8 last week. Well, it looks like the coaches listened to me because he had 23 touches this week. Even though Percy had a couple of fumbles, you can’t blame this loss on him. He played his heart out.

Get Percy the Ball!

Last week against the Tennessee Vols, Percy Harvin only had 8 touches. It may have worked against UT, but if the Gators want to have continue success in the SEC they must give the ball to their best player. Percy Harvin!!8 touches is just not enough in a 60 minute game. I know that with the new clock rules, offenses aren’t running as many plays as last year, but in 2007 Percy had 15 touches against Ole Miss. That led to 121 yards and a touchdown. The more times you give the ball to your best player the more yards you will gain and points you will score. There was a point when Percy was averaging 10 yards per carry. I want to see those numbers again!

I love seeing Percy take direct snaps, or the plays when he lines up outside then goes in motion and takes a handoff from Tebow running sideline to sideline. No one can stop it!

Ole Miss is a bad team. The Gators are favored by 22 and should win by even more. There’s no reason why Meyer can’t open up the playbook this week and get Percy the rock. The hometown crowd wants to see it!

Need tickets for the Ole Miss game? It’s not too late to get them on Stubhub. Don’t forget, if you can’t make it to the Gator game, you need to head over to Gator Envy where all the Gator fans meet up for live game discussions. If you aren’t already a member, it’s free to join!
