Percy Harvin Zone

The Wonderful World of Percy Harvin.

Percy Harvin was limping around campus in a protective boot. But as scary as that sounds, there is still something to be hopeful for. Meyer is listing Percy Harvin as questionable for the game and not ruling him out.

“The great news in the training room today, it’s very positive, very positive, a lot of thumbs up, including from the player, a big thumbs up, a smile on his face,” Meyer said. “He’s as competitive a human being as I’ve ever been around. He’s doing everything he can possibly do, and our training staff’s the best in college football. That’s all positive.

“The negative is it’s a sprained ankle, and we know what sprained ankles mean. We’re going to boot him and he will not do anything until later in the week.”

ESPN.com brought up an important note from two years ago that I wasn’t even thinking of. Percy got banged up against FSU then and still played in the SEC Championship.

Harvin was in a similar situation two years ago. He was knocked out of the game in Tallahassee after slamming his head into a linebacker’s knee. But he was back on the field the following week in Atlanta and earned most valuable player honors against Arkansas in the league title game.

He ran six times for 105 yards and a touchdown and caught five passes for 62 yards and a score.

“He plays well in this game,” Meyer said. “He made that very clear to me a couple thousand times in the last two days. I love him.”

I hope Percy has a strong and quick recovery. I know Meyer will only use him if he’s ready to go.

We finally saw some explosion from Percy Harvin in Saturday’s Gator 56-6 victory over the Gamecocks. It wasn’t on the receiving side of the ball, but rushing yards count just as much!

Percy ended the game with 8 carries for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns, plus 1 reception for 6 yards. One of the Percy Harvinrushing touchdowns came on an 80 yard rush. He hit the hole, bounce of a defender then squeezed his way through a few more and it was off to the races. No one on the South Carolina defense could catch him.

Even the Old Ball Coach had good things to say about Percy in the post game interview. “If he was a tailback on somebody else’s team, he’d be a 200-yards-a-game guy,” Spurrier said. You know, he’s probably right!

Percy’s receiving stats were pretty much non existent because the Gators didn’t need to throw the ball. The got up to a big 21-0 lead in the 1st quarter and just set everything on cruise control. The Gator offense is clicking like I’ve never seen before. I’m not sure anyone can stop them.

I’ll be sure to post the highlights from the game later this week.

Percy Harvin didn’t rack up big numbers like we were expecting, but he did score a touchdown to keep his streak alive. Percy has now scored a touchdown in every game he’s played in this season (remember, he missed the opener vs Hawaii). Tebow tried to get him the ball in the air several times in the endzone, but they just couldn’t connect.

Percy ended the game with 9 rushes for 60 yards and a touchdown, plus 3 receptions for 32 yards.

One play that caused some controversy was a Percy Harvin “fumble” on the goal line. The cameras clearly showed that the ball crossed the goal line, but the booth review didn’t overturn the call on the field of a fumble and the ball was given to Vandy. It was so blatantly obvious that the ball was across the goal line and Percy have complete control of it. O-well, at least it wasn’t a game changing play.

With the win, the Gators clinched the SEC East, and with a PSU loss, they’ll probably move up to No. 3 in the BCS.

The Florida vs. Georgia game is one of the biggest rivalries in all of college football and it isn’t called “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” for nothing. Now is the perfect time to order your rivalry gear from Football Fanatics. They have 3-Day shipping for only $4.99 so you’ll be sure to get your item before this weekend’s game. They have 15 Florida vs. Georgia shirts and one figurine.

You won’t want to be in the stands without a rivalry shirt when Percy Harvin scores a winning touchdown against the Dawgs.

This week is homecoming week in Gainesville, Florida. The University of Kentucky is the unlucky opponent (I’ll have a game preview on Friday). Some of the activities this week include the annual Homecoming Parade and Gator Growl on Friday Night.

If you’re thinking about heading to Gainesville for the game, there are still tickets left. It’s going tobe a great atmosphere and you’ll get to see Percy Harvin in action and dominate an SEC opponent.
